On site of the Austrian Embassy in Bangkok there is a residence building, ancillary buildings and an embassy office building. The office building can not be adjusted in a presentable economic framework to the requirements of a modern embassy.
The aim of the competition was therefore to create a concept for a new building.
The Ambassador's residence was not the subject of the competition.
Regarding the climate ( tropical ) and moderate subsoil conditions ( high water level , rain and flooding periods ) in Bangkok special emphasis was laid on building an environmentally sustainable building.
