The existing single family house is part of a group of 3 attached houses, that belongs to around 70 similar houses of a residential estate being developed in the 1920ies from the architects Franz Schuster/Franz Schacherl, students of German Architect Tessenow.

The village´s layout is very sophisticatedly offering private gardens in the backyard that are all connected to the public access roads. The village has been only minimally changed from the original concept within the 80 years of its existance due to an overall communal protection law. The client intended to use the attic space that has not been much used before. The design concept has proposed to remove all existing walls inserting two pairs of glass dormers virtually connecting each other from one side to the other. City cooperation though unexpectedly denied permission for these all glass dormers and only allowed to use the classic dormer type, compromising though on two glass fields being inserted on the garden side.

Parts of the original carpenter´s roof sub construction were made visible when implementing the gypsum work, the floor material was chosen accordingly: reddish nut wood makes the "one room" concept very homely and fresh. The couple is using the space after years of quite small but practical rooms as an open space for flexible use.
