The project is a pilot project to build a new police station as a public-private partnership (PPP) according to the requirements of the Ministry of Interior.

In autumn 2008 the project was set off with a detailed survey of the site, its topographical setting and legal characteristics. Parallely a very detailed functional and technical reqirement catalogue was worked out. An architectural study was carried out and formed the basis of the tender document. The project was tendered for a general contractor and the contract was awarded in spring 2009.

The design phase and the monitoring of the physical implementation needed an intense communication process where contractor, architects, users and client´s representatives were constantly involved. Fortunately, most of the key details and the specific technical and design frame could be implemented.

The building has low energy standard with an energy index of around 30kwh/m2/j, equipped with a controlled ventilation and exhaust system and is optimally designed to take advantage of the permanent occupation of a police inspection leading to a very good energy balance and and saving operational costs.

The appearance of the building is simple and clear, due to the hillside location a separation of public and the service access was possible arranging internal rooms on the ground floor (E.g. dressing rooms, archives etc.) and the public spaces (party room, offices etc) on the first floor.

The interior has been designed with a few materials very consistently creating a pleasant working atmosphere as well as certain robustness corresponding to the purpose. Transparency and good internal function created a quite well organised unit.

The police station could be taken over after only approx. 10 month of construction period and has started operation on the 17.8.2010.
